I am an optimist and believe in the power of karma, always remaining grateful for everything I have. These values have guided me through my journey as a Mexican immigrant living in the United States.

I have been taking photography classes for the past 2 years. I became interested in taking these classes through a friend. I love to take photos, and learn about the techniques and features that the camera has. Photography gives me the opportunity to share the most important and special moments in life with family, friends, and others.

The proudest moment in photography for me was when one of my photos was featured in The New York Times earlier this year. I was honored that they felt my work was good enough to be in the paper.

I am very proud when I’m taking photos, proud of learning about our new camera, and of being a student who is able to take fantastic photos. By taking this class, I feel more confident.

I took this photo in my kitchen, just after I had finished making cheese bread. I used the camera to capture the shadows that were on the table at that moment. Bronx, NY. 2021.

I enjoy making these types of recipes because I can play and make different designs. Bread design of flowers and leaves and lemon flavored jello with grapes. Bronx, NY. 2021.

This photo was taken in my daughter’s house. The flags are of her two nationalities, Mexican and Dominican. In the background is her collection of CDs, which she has had since she was a little girl. Bronx, NY. 2021.
